Greetings again from the Moore Bed and Breakfast!
Carlie has had her usual great week, playing ball, taking walks.  We finally persuaded the girl to wade in the lake while the other dogs swim!   I was so proud!!!

Carlie has had a bath today and finally that thick grey under fur is brushing out, she is a shiny and beautiful girl!  Carlie continues her relentless search of a constant game of throw the ball and fetch, but other than that she is sweet and calm, she really allowed me to pull quite a bit getting her under fur out and was very patient.   We do have to set limits for Carlie as far as playing because she would go until she was heat stroked she loves it so much.
We really have no new and exciting tales but are checking in and letting you know that Carlie is sweet and wonderful and ready for her forever home!

Hello again from the Moore Doggie bed and Breakfast!  Carlie and I have been quite busy this week, Carlie attended the APL Dog Walk at Washington Park in Springfield on Saturday morning and had a great time!   She made a point to greet everyone she met by sitting and
looking up while wagging her tail, and was rewarded with lots of attention!   She was a great hit with the people, and she was completely polite with all the dogs, a few sniffs here and there but she is much more interested in the people.

Carlie got a doggie massage and enjoyed that to, although she is a very polite girl and she decided that the massage table was furniture and she would not get up.  Oh well, she got her massage on the ground and a good tummy rub also, multiple times actually because if she could get someone interested in petting her she would immediately want a tummy rub.
Some dogs do this because they are nervous but I sure didn't get that sense with Carlie, she was just loving every minute of the attention.

From the dog walk we went to the farmers market, where she again allowed all kinds of people to pet her, and heeled politely beside me.  Carlie just seems to genuinely love being around people.

We have been taking 2-3 mile walks every day, and continue to play ball, so by the time she is done many times I find her in the back bathroom napping or she lets herself out into our fenced backyard (When I'm home) and I will find her quietly watching the outdoors.
Carlie continues to act like the happy young to middle aged girl she is and she is doing great!!!!

Signing off now, Carlie is already asleep at my feet..

Hi Everyone from the Moore Doggie Bed and Breakfast, Carlie and her foster Mom are being lazy this evening and lounging inside in the air conditioning since it was stifling hot today and two or three thunder storms rumbled through, which are not Carlie's favorite things.  She does okay, just has a little nervous pacing at times.

We did get in a two mile walk and plenty of ball playing time though..in between storms. Both Border Collies are currently alternating between lying on the floor and squeaking toys and bringing them to us to throw.  They steal them from each other and it's fairly entertaining.  Dakota my Bordo mix did a half gainer summersault to steal the toy back, and Carlie always looks so innocent and SHOCKED!!!   How could he do this to me!!!( She steals from him every much as he steals from her)

Carlie and the other dogs enjoyed playing in all the water in the ditches from the rain, and my other dogs swam at the lake today, but Carlie consistently refuses to swim. I don't know if she just never learned but she doesn't want to so I don't push her.

Other than that no news is good news, Carlie is healthy happy sweet, getting along with everyone she meets, and ready to make someone a beautiful forever friend.
Signing off
Carlie and Sue
PS Carlie says send new balls any kind are fine

Hello,
Carlie and I are running behind posting as usual but we are just SO BUS
Y ,playing ball, walking, wading at the edge of the lake while the other dogs swim, and just generally having fun!

Carlie maintains her sunny disposition, she is happiest playing ball, but is also content to roll over for a nice long belly rub, or sit quietly on the back porch watching the birds and nature around her.

She still considers the riding mower her greatest herding subject, so we generally put her in when we mow. I will try to get a picture of the look on her face though it is priceless.

She is so good with other dogs and people she is amazing! She would really make a good therapy dog I think.

Well I will sign off now from the Moore bed and breakfast where every
dog has its day and Every day is Carlie's Day!!!!

Hi Everyone from the Moore Dog Bed and Breakfast!
We have been our usual busy selves, as Carlies snores next to me on the floor, as I write this can testify to. We are doing are usual play ball as often as possible thing, plus our daily walk.

Carlie loves to just sit in the shade on the back porch and chill out, watching the birds, and chasing off the occasional squirrel during the day. She is becoming much more affectionate, asking for more belly rubs and coming to me for petting, following from room to room.

We are still working on walking on the leash, if you have Carlie heel right next to you she is fine, other wise she has a funny herding type walk side to side that crowds out the other dogs and can send her into traffic.  Carlie will listen and heel but I would like her to be a little freer, and not crowd the other dogs.  I may ask the dog training center here in town to advise me in a positive method of training for this.

I have discovered that Carlie likes to wade but doesn't swim, since the other dogs swim at the lake but she just doesn't want to.  I'm sure she could it just doesn't interest her.  Since Carlie knows what she likes and doesn't we will move on to other fun things to do.

Carlie continues to charm everyone she meets, she has yet to find anyone she has not liked, she loves the petting and attention.  Well that's about it for this week, all dogs at the Moores are healthy happy taking all flea and heartworm preventatives, and staying cool
with me in the air conditioning right now!!!!
Carlie and Sue signing off.

Hi all,
Carlie has had a busy weekend at the Moore doggie bed and breakfast.  She has been non stop walking and playing ball, she rolled in a giant stinky puddle in a cow pasture with her friend Dakota and had a bath, "But Lady it smells GOOD!!!!!   We are now adding walking
and playing ball its more efficient and she loves it!!!

We have had a lot of storms this weekend too and Miss Carlie does not like thunder, she is glued to my side and at one point my husband had both female dogs in the bathroom with him.  It is sweet though and they calm right down if reassured.

Carlie she was out when my husband started the riding mower and she ran around him barking (herding).  While it was cute to watch it is a safety concern so I don't recommend Carlie be outside when you are cutting the grass.

Anyway Carlie is a great dog, she keeps us well entertained, she is
friendly to everyone and minds her manners.  Her coat is becoming so
silky and soft and she is in awesome shape. We think she is wonderful
and she would make anyone that needs a medium to high energy
companion a great pet.

From the Moore Doggie bed and Breakfast:
Carlie is having a great time, we have started taking the ball with us when both my husband and I walk and letting the dogs play fetch for a little while. They come back to us with no trouble and Carlie minds beautifully when you ask her to come.   She is especially
motivated to come back when she wants her ball thrown again!!!    We are fortunate to live across from several large fields of grass that we can play in.

Carlie has been taking her usual long walks, helping in the garden and just generally enjoying life. She has amazing energy for a 6 year old dog, but she is so sweet when she is inside, many times she will go to her dog bed and lay down if she is tired and you won't even know she is around!  Otherwise she is with the rest of the pack following me from room to room not really expecting anything but just being near.

Carlie has been trained to stay off furniture by someone ( Not Me my husband will attest) and she never gets on any furniture, she loves to visit with the neighbor, and is always looking for a friend on our walks.

The only quirk I have noticed (Besides her love for frosted flakes), is that she hates the riding mower and will chase it barking. This isnt a huge deal for us we have more than an acre and she can either go inside or stay in the fenced backyard away from the mower. The
other dogs are puzzled by what she is barking at, but hey, we all have our little pet peeves!

5/3/2008

Carlie is still doing great taking long walks, playing lots and lots and lots of catch and ball and throw the squeaky toy.  We are working a bit on polite walking, trying to keep the nose up and walk next to me, and also on being more consistent about following commands.
Now that she has been here a while I have noticed her tendency to herd the other dogs in the direction she wants to go, and she and Dakota are both wanting that top dog spot, so I want to be sure
everyone understands sit and stay.  She and Dakota have had a couple of
small spats which surprised me at first but, then they are on such even footing in strength , intelligence, and size that I should have expected it I guess.  Dakota is actually not always instigator many times it is Carlie, she seems to be challenging him and he is backing
down at times but other times not.  I'm lucky though they are both listening very nicely once I get them away from each other and do calm down quickly. I simply take away whatever toy or item they are fighting over and it seems to cure the problem.  I also do reprimand
and make them lay down. This seems to be enough at the moment.   If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

Other than that Carlie is fine a joy,the three dogs on a walk are actually fun any more I go wild telling them how well they are doing afterwards because they are learning to ignore other dogs, not pull on the leash, and just have fun exploring the woods!!! Carlie is
loving the smells of it all.I plan on seeing if she likes to swim with the other dogs in the lake when it gets a little warmer.

Carlie wants to know where we can buy MORE BALLS!!!!

4/28/2008

Carlie is doing great, she is her usual sweet self although her play ball drive got a little obsessive during that very wet time when our walks got shorter, and I did discover she can be a bit mischievous if she is frustrated, she chewed the cord off my iron (of course it wasn't plugged in).  Crating her when not home is a good idea.

Carlie needs her walks and her ball playing time or she is bored.  That's ok with me I enjoy it and so does my other little bordomix.  Other than that she is very sweet has taken to rolling over two or three times a day for tummy rubs and following me around the house.  She
is a very affectionate girl. She is learning to walk by my side and doing better holding her head high instead of sniffing!  We are going looking for a grooming this weekend..and I will send in a pix of the new and improved Carlie! ( Not that she isnt beautiful the way she is)

Talk to you soon,Sue and Carlie
PS Carlie says SEND MORE BALLS MINE ARE GETTING WORN OUT!!!!

4/21/2008

Hi All,
Carlie continues to be a joy..she is a wild thing with the warm weather she loves the back yard during the day and continues to be VERY MOTIVATED to play ball. We spend about 45 minutes in the evening playing ball in the back yard and that's never enough. She is walking nicely on the leash.

I have to say that I am guilty of having taught her to love Life Cereal, and she is awful about it at 0600 in the am when im eating breakfast,(YES IM A PUSHOVER). I will try to break her of the people food and begging before she leaves my home.

She is totally housebroken and in nasty weather stays with our dogs in our bedroom and is trustworthy doesn't chew, or cause any problems.  As I speak she and my English lab are lying like bookends on the floor at my feet snoring. She continues to play with my little border/husky and they are so funny to watch.  She is just a very sweet dog and with a
little tweaking to fit what ever families habits she should be the perfect pet.

4/2/2008
Carlie continues to be a joy.  She is running 3 miles with myself and the other dogs on Saturdays and seems to like it just fine ( Jogging Slow I admit it with frequent walking breaks).

She is playing in the yard with the ball in the yard with my step son who is 14 and my husband and loves it!

She has learned to come back for the most part after the walk without wandering off if we let her run up to the house ahead of us with the other dogs.  She's FAST she can beat even my border mix!

She is very sweet, we are working on shake she doesn't quite understand but we will keep trying.  She remains very ball fixated and that I don't think will change much, although I would like to see her broaden her horizons a bit.  I have had several people interested in Miss Carlie so we will see what happens.  She will be SADLY MISSED when she is adopted.

Hello all,
Miss Carlie continues to do well, she has a very sunny disposition and adapts well to any acivity offered.

Hurrah! She and my little border collie mix have bonded and will run up and down the hall after each other, nibble on each other ears, chase the ball and generally just have fun!  They seem to really get along and this is unusual with my dog.   I would say it has to do with Carlie's good breeding and sweet disposition.   I believe she was used to sharing and deferring to her brother, so this isn't that different.

If I have Carlie long enough and can manage the time I may look for a flyball class or recommend her new owners do!   She loves to chase the ball so much and she is so trainable.  She' s not the fastest girl going but with training I bet she could be.

Carlie is doing better on the leash although she still has a strange side to side herding walk if you dont make her heel.   However, she follows commands easily, and is easily trainable.
All in all Carlie is a wonderful dog who would be a great addition to any house hold.   We think she is the best!

3/1/2008

Carlie is a very sweet tempered semi active six year old border collie female.  I have had her about a week now and she has learned to fit into our household quite well, getting along with my husband, my fourteen year old stepson, and myself like she was meant to be here.
She is grateful and sweet about tummy rubs, pets, and loves to lay down next to you or lean up against you and get lots of love.

She gets along with both my dogs, although she and my male dog had several spats at first, until she got tired of him being rude and domineering and chased him down and put him in his place by growling.  (We put an immediate stop to this with both dogs) They seem to have worked matters out though and no further problems have been seen.

She is a little too eager about the cats, although she does not hurt them just follows them and whines. I think with training I could get rid of this behavior.

Carlie's biggest and best game is PLAY BALL she would do this all day and night if you would let her!  She is amazingly fast, and agile although like any middle age girl she has a tiny amount of middle age spread that we are trying to (BOTH OF US) work of with long walks.

Carlie is fully housetrained, great in the car, good on the leash, although she keeps her nose down a little bit being sniffy and I would like to see her look up and show off her beautiful face on the walk a little more.  We are working on it.  If you could have seen
both my little border collie types standing on there hind feet looking out over the lake bridge on our walk today you would have laughed. They are so fun on a walk, they love it so much and will do whatever you ask them to!

Carlie will make somebody a great pet, I dont think there are too many homes where she wouldn't fit!  I haven't seen her with small children so I have no idea how she would do with younger kids.

If the new owner would buy a gross of tennis or baseballs PLEASE CARLIE IS REALLY ASKING NICELY!!!!!  She is SITTING PRETTY!!!!!!
