Ace (Soda) Update

Posted April 2009

Hi everyone!  Ace here!  Mom said everyone reading the Guardian Angel story would probably like to know how I'm doing today.  Well, after leaving Texas, we moved to Minnesota for a new job as trainers!  That's right!  Mom and I help dogs solve their owners' behavior problems together.  I often help Mom out with her classes by demonstrating the right way to do things.  Everyone thinks I'm so handsome and smart and their always surprised when Mom tells them I was adopted.

Since we moved to Minnesota, our family has grown.  Mom got married to Ty, who I ADORE, in October of 2007.  We also adopted a new canine family member in February 2008.  Her name is Streak, and she's OK too.  Just kidding!  She and I get along great!  Her mission in life is to devise new ways to get me to leave my bone so she can swipe it.  I'm on to her though and I'm learning to ignore her antics.  Sometimes it's hard to ignore her when she dangles toys in my face (I LOVE toys), and I'm never quite sure if she's "crying wolf" or if there really is somebody outside....so now I carry the bone with me to check it out, just in case.  Now all four of us live in a house in New Hope, and we all love the extra space and having our very own yard!

As for my shoulder, it's completely fine now.  I'm a happy, healthy and active BC - in fact, the vet always tells my mom I'm "the picture of perfect health".  Since moving to Minnesota I've done agility, disc dogs, herding, obedience, and even dabbled in some dock diving!  I'm quite the rising agility star!  Since starting agility in fall of 2007, I have earned 10 titles to date, and counting.  I really don't know what "earning titles" means, I just love playing the game.  My favorite thing is the tunnel!  I'm pretty fast too!  Sometimes I get a little overexcited and add a few extra obstacles into the course...Mom says that's why I'm so good at Jackpot.  We spend a lot of time doing agility, but we squeeze disc dogs into the mix too.  I LOVE to play Frisbee and we do a lot of that in the back yard at home, but we're members of the Twin Cities Disc Dogs Club too.  I won the Freestyle division in my very first disc dogs competition.  That's the one where we do tricks to music!

Well, not much else to tell you except that I want to thank everyone who has donated to the Allison and Soda Guardian Angel Fund to help dogs like me!  Your generosity makes all the difference in the world!
