Please answer with a yes or no for each of the following areas you are able to assist with
Select Yes No Potential Adopter Applications (PAs) This involves contacting potential adopters, determining what type of dog they are looking for, checking references, arranging a home visit*, putting them in contact with the appropriate foster home and following up on the progress of the adopted dog. This is extremely important and rewarding because you are directly involved with the adoption process. We are always in need of volunteers to help with this part of the process.
Select Yes No Volunteer and Foster Home Reference Checks: This is similar to working with PAs except it will be foster home applications and volunteer forms. Doing reference checks, contact volunteers and explain what we do.
Select Yes No Home Visits: This involves going to the Potential Adopter's home to verify the premises are safe for the new dog. A check list is provided.
Select Yes No Transportation: Bringing a dog into the rescue from shelters/owners. Transporting a dog to the new owner or taking the dog for a vet appointment. Our transportation coordinator works out the drive in reasonable shifts. Most of our foster dogs are based in the Midwestern states.
Select Yes No Breed and Temperament Evaluations: This involves evaluation a dog before it comes into the rescue to ensure it is a purebred Border Collie. Also performing a temperament test (check list provided). Midwest Border Collie Rescue, Inc, will not accept a dog into rescue that has a history of aggression towards humans.
Select Yes No Fundraising: Attending regional and local shows and events, selling merchandise at shows, manning booths at local trials, attending our toy making parties, helping at special events and competitions. This is a great way to meet fellow rescuers.
*A list will be available of people in the area who are willing to help with home visits near the Potential Adopter.
