November 14th, 2017: Meet Lucky!
He is a one year old (approximate) male, Border Collie mix. Lucky was a stray in Kentucky. In his first foster home he was injured by a resident dog and he needed to be moved until another home became available. Transport went smoothly and everyone loved him and said he is a sweetheart, a total Velcro dog. We need to work on some jumping up issues and wanting to get into your lap for some attention. He is completely submissive and shy around my resident dogs. This could be because of his experience with the first foster home. He does take corrections from my dogs very well and he is great with my cats. I see no herding instinct. This is a companion level dog that will do well as an only dog or with others. Other than being a bit obnoxious seeking attention and affection, I find no issues with him. I feel he just needs a bit of reinforced obedience training. He is housebroken and crate trained. Lucky has never had an accident in his crate or marked in the house. He signals at the door when he needs to go out. He can be a bit vocal in the crate at first but settles quickly. He is quiet and calm at night in his crate in our bedroom. Because of his size I would be cautious with very young children and I don’t think he would be well suited to apartment life but it would depend upon the circumstances. He may have been a stray but he knows sit and shake. I don’t understand how someone did not look for him! This is the perfect dog for someone who loves the BC breed but is not experienced enough or does not want to deal with some of the over active behavior. If you would like to take a chance on this smooth Southern Gentleman, I would be happy to answer any questions or arrange a meeting with approved adopters. His neuter is scheduled on November 28th and is available for adoption after that time but you are welcome to meet him before that.
